"...now and at the hour of our death. Amen"

In thought...

"...now and at the hour of our death. Amen"

This is the last request we ask of the Blessed Virgin Mary when praying the Hail Mary. Recently, I have come to understand how important this prayer request is. I especially think of my children. I pray that Our Mother pray for them. They are growing up in a time full of relativism, as much as I try to teach the Faith to them, and pray for God's grace upon them, they are growing up in a time full of... "Well, whats good for you, as long as your not hurting anyone." This kind of thinking can pull them further from the Truth... The Truth being Jesus Christ. "I am the Way, the Truth, the Life." (John 14:6) .
The hour of our deaths is the last great battle between good and evil for our souls. Until then, we have lived our lives, hopefully in Christ's light, following God's commandments. At least, trying too, and seeking his mercy when we fail. We do fail, each and everyone of us. When we fail hopefully we turn to Christ and ask humbly for forgiveness. The greatest evil in the world is not sin, but the denial of sin. If we've lived a life denying that we are sinners, that last great battle could cost us our souls.
I believe in God's great mercy. I believe God wills all of us to be with Him forever in Heaven. We have been created by Him out of love, and He wants us to be with Him for all eternity. So I think He will have great mercy on each one of us, even if we have lived a life not pleasing to Him. That mercy will be shown to us, at the hour of our deaths. But my fear is, if we have lived our lives never seeking the Truth. God's Truth, love, and forgiveness, will we even recognize it when it really counts, at the hour of our deaths.... during that last great battle between good and evil for our souls for all eternity. The devil is a liar, our whole life he tries to make us believe Truth is a lie and lies are the truth. During the hour of our death, will we recognize Truth, Jesus Christ? Or will we continue to buy into the devils lies... and believe his empty promises. If we've ignored the Truth, pushed is aside for most of our lives, will we recognize it calling us home for keeps for always. At the hour of our deaths?
So Blessed Mother, please pray for us, pray for us all, Now and at the hour of our deaths. AMEN.

Luke 9:22-25

Jesus said to His apostle's, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and he loses his soul?"
